How to style your table setting for the holidays

Transform your dining space and create a beautiful table setting for your dinner guests to gather around these holidays. All it takes is a few special touches.

Pair complementary colours for a fresh and bright feel

Choose colours from the opposite sides of the colour wheel. Try a checked gingham tablecloth in midnight black or cactus green and pair with contrasting linen napkins and vases of Australian natives.

Add texture to your holiday table setting.
Play with textures

Collect handmade ceramic and glassware pieces from local artisans and slowly build a collection of dinnerware with all different textures, ceramic glazes, and shapes that your dinner guests will love.

Go scentless at the dining table

A softly glowing candle is an easy way to add another dimension to your space, but reserve the dining table for scentless options so your guests can smell the delicious meal you’ve prepared.

Dress your table setting with fresh or dried botanicals

Use dried flowers, pine, eucalyptus and gum leaves as a runway for the centre of your table setting. For an extra special touch, try wrapping cutlery in a linen napkin with a sprig of rosemary and securing with some natural-coloured twine or ribbon.

Garnish your table setting with dried citrus.

Have drink garnishes at the ready

Keep dried citrus, fresh mint and edible flower garnishes central and easy-to-access so guests can customise picture-perfect drinks to their liking. Present the garnishes on a long white side-dish to add visual interest and let the fresh colours pop!
