Mint-Cacao: Peppermint + raw cacao nibs
Therapeutic benefits: Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) Peppermint has excellent antispasmodic actions, calming and soothing the entire length of the digestive tract. Peppermint has been found to relieve intestinal colic and flatulence by its relaxing effect on smooth muscle. Due to its antimicrobial activity, peppermint may also help fight off infections such as the common cold and influenza. The volatile oil acts as a mild anaesthetic to the stomach wall which may help with feelings of nausea during travel. Cacao nibs (Theobroma cacao) are some of the richest high-antioxidant foods. This is due to the phytonutrients available. The antioxidants help absorb the free radicals that cause damage in the body. these phytonutrients are similar to those found in grapes, berries and tea. Cacao nibs, when consumed are a high source of plant-based iron, magnesium, calcium and B vitamins.
Hibiscus Lemon Myrtle Iced Tea: Lemon myrtle + rooibos + hibiscus petals + jasmine flowers Designed to be enjoyed either hot or cold.
Therapeutic benefit: Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is a beautiful Australian native. It has been used traditionally for sinus infections, bronchitis and irritable digestive disorders. Lemon myrtle may gently stimulate the digestive processes and reduce symptoms such as bloating and cramping. Lemon myrtle is also used as a potent antioxidant, reducing free radicals throughout the body. Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) contains powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. They protect the body by scavenging free radicals, stabilising reactive, or ‘unhealthy’ cells in the body. These polyphenols also act as an anti-inflammatory. Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) has traditionally been used to regulate fluid balance and promote overall health. It has been found to improve skin conditions, promote adequate circulation and improve digestive issues. These amazing benefits come from the phytochemistry of the plants, as it contains citric acid, malic acid, anthocyanins and quercetin. Jasmine (Jasminum) has been found to strengthen the immune system by fighting bacteria-causing infections. Jasmine flowers may soothe the throat and reduce other symptoms caused by viruses such as the common cold.
Energise: Organic chamomile, Lemongrass + papaya pieces + ginger + cinnamon.
Therapeutic benefits: Lemongrass (Cymbopogon) has a cooling energy, and has been found to improve digestion by lessening stomach cramps and spasms, and reducing bloating and flatulence. Lemongrass may also improve circulation to increase energy. Lemongrass is high in antioxidants. Antioxidants scavenge free radicals from the body’s cells and prevent or reduce the damage caused by oxidation. Papaya fruit is an excellent source of folate and vitamins C, A and E. It also contains calcium, iron, riboflavin, thiamin and niacin. Papaya is very rich in the antioxidant nutrients flavonoids and carotenes. All nutrients have been found to aid in energy production. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a stimulating tonic for the digestive system. It has been found to reduce cramping, gas and nausea. Ginger has been indicated for motion sickness and morning sickness in pregnancy for hundreds of years. Ginger increases peripheral circulation which increases blood flow, helps to detoxify the body from toxins, and stimulates oxygen transport to the body’s cells. In Western Herbal Medicine it is also used as an anti-inflammatory throughout the body, and to increase immunity to prevent invasion of bacteria and viruses. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) acts systemically as a smooth muscle relaxant. It has been found to balance blood sugar levels, and, as a carminative, is warming to the intestinal tract. The volatile oils in cinnamon are antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral.
Green Sencha, Jasmin& Rose: Green tea sencha / jasmine flowers / rose petals Therapeutic benefit: Sencha Green tea (Camellia sinensis) has higher therapeutic properties than black tea. Green tea acts as a nervous system stimulant and thus has been effective in the treatment for fatigue and headaches. The active compounds in green tea also have an inflammatory modulating activity. Sencha is known to improve heart health by having a tonifying effect; and potentially decreasing the risk of arteriosclerosis, high cholesterol and other cardiovascular conditions. Sencha contains a significant amount of catechins, which are a known potent antioxidant. Catechins fight and prevent cell damage. Jasmine (Jasminum) has been found to strengthen the immune system by fighting bacteria-causing infections. Jasmine flowers may soothe the throat and reduce other symptoms caused by viruses such as the common cold. Rose (Rosa) is fragrant, fruity and packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. This means it scavenges free radicals that cause cellular damage. Rose adds a beautiful but subtle floral flavour. Although completely natural, green tea is a stimulant, so it is not recommended to mix with any other stimulants, consume before bed or consume in large amounts if you have a highly reactive nervous system.
